I decided to make to make good use of my new Super Duo beading pattern and made it in my current favorite color, purple. I love the way it turned out. I also varied the edge embellishment by using fire polished beads instead of round crystals. The more transparent purple super duo beads create quite a different look from the matte opaque super duo beads I used in my previous bracelet of the same design. I think I might like this style better. It’s hard to decide. They both have their charms.
This bracelet design really makes up quickly, which is great because I’ll be teaching it in a class in March. I hope the students enjoy making the design as much as I do. Hopefully they won’t have as many beads with plugged up holes as I did in this batch of Super Duo beads. I had to use a bead reamer on quite a few and in the process of trying to file out the holes I ended up breaking some of the beads. Has anyone else had this issue with their Super Duo beads? It was like the coating clogged up the holes, because it came out of most of the holes with a little persistent grinding with the bead reamer. The last batch of Super Duo beads I used didn’t have as many clogged holes. Oh well, it doesn’t really deter me. I still love Super Duos.
